POIPOIA TE KAKANO,KIA PUAWAI

A NURTURED SEED WILL BLOSSOM

The objective of Poipoia te kākano, kia puāwai (Nurture the seed, that it may blossom) is to enable mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) solutions about housing and home to blossom by nurturing research that is by, with and for whānau (family), hapū (sub tribe), Iwi (tribe) and Māori communities.

What began in the second half of 2019 with visits and conversations with those interested in facilitating local housing research led on to the co-creation with community stakeholders of research projects. These initial projects began in 2020, with funding from the Kāinga Tahi, Kāinga Rua funding stream of the Building Better Homes, Towns and Cities National Science Challenge.

When these projects finished in 2024, this website has become home for resources and other research about housing and home for whānau Māori.
